Health and Safety Coordinator Responsibilities The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that periodic fire protection and life safety inspections are conducted, documented, and any identified issues are addressed within a reasonable timeframe. They also attend mandatory health and safety training and provide advice on implementing health and safety policies and procedures.

The Health and Safety Coordinator also ensures that all concerned parties attend necessary training and maintain records. They implement and monitor the risk assessment management process for school activities and trips, raise health and safety issues and concerns to the school principal on behalf of the teaching staff, and work with them to find appropriate solutions.

Communication, collaboration, and awareness-raising are core responsibilities of this position, in addition to supporting incident investigation and reporting in a timely manner. The Health and Safety Coordinator leads the school's Health and Safety Committee and participates in the Cognita Middle East Health and Safety Network Forum.

Facilities and Operations Management Team The Facilities and Operations Management Team manages the general maintenance and safety of the school's infrastructure. The team is responsible for ensuring traffic management arrangements are in place, overseeing contractor management to ensure they comply with safe working practices on site, in addition to ensuring periodic inspection of emergency, fire, and rescue equipment.

The Facilities and Operations Management Team collaborates with the Health and Safety Coordinator to ensure inspections are conducted, evidence of health and safety practices is maintained for auditing and inspection, and issues raised through Health and Safety Committees are addressed in a timely manner. They also collaborate on implementing improvements based on inspection results and taking necessary corrective actions, and oversee the risk assessment process for school facilities to ensure residual risks remain at the lowest reasonably practicable level.

Department Heads and Supervisors Department heads and supervisors at the school are responsible for promoting and discussing health and safety issues through departmental meetings, supporting the practical implementation of health and safety policies, supporting the implementation and monitoring of the risk management process, reporting health and safety hazards and incidents, participating in investigations related to incidents and near misses, in addition to ensuring shift schedules are in place to provide effective and active supervision of students.
