Al Karamah School is the first school in the United Arab Emirates dedicated to the needs of students with autism and learning difficulties. Established in 2019, the school welcomes students starting from the age of 3. The school is committed to providing the highest level of education and care in a safe and positive environment. It adopts a broad and balanced curriculum that combines international curricula with the UAE national curriculum, applying the latest learning methods according to each student's individual abilities to achieve academic excellence and effective community participation.

  • Students who may meet admission criteria are referred to the school by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) for consideration of possible placement.
  • Following referral, an initial admission observation is conducted to determine the suitability of potential placement.
  • After the initial admission observation, the admissions team will discuss and make a decision regarding admission suitability. When there is approval for student placement, ADEK will be informed. Students are placed in the school according to their age and developmental stage.
  • If admission is approved, the school will contact the parent/guardian and send all initial documents for completion, such as (student birth certificate, parent ID, student photos, and some student-specific documents including medical reports).
  • After completing the documents and before the student starts school, the relevant authority invites the parent and student for a tour of the school so they can familiarize themselves with it, then conducts baseline assessments for the student within 6 weeks of enrollment and updates the student profile on the eSIS system.

  • The school contracts with two qualified nurses to assess health situations during injuries and provide advice accordingly.
  • When taking students off school premises, staff ensure they have (mobile phone, first aid kit, information about students' medical needs, parents' contact details).
  • When transporting students by bus, the school ensures it is equipped with a first aid kit.
  • There will always be at least one first aider on school trips and visits.
  • Risk assessments are completed by the Health and Safety Officer before any educational visit requiring students to be taken off school premises.
