Early Years Stage at International School of Creative Science Nad Al Sheba: Building Strong Foundations

Foundation Stage 1 & 2

At International School of Creative Science Nad Al Sheba, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. This framework is based on four guiding principles that shape our practices:

  1. Every child is unique, constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident, and self-assured.
  2. Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.
  3. Children learn and develop well in supportive environments with teaching and care from adults who respond to their interests and individual needs and help them build their learning over time. Children benefit from a strong partnership between teachers and parents or caregivers.
  4. Children develop and learn at different rates. The framework includes teaching and caring for all children in early education, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Learning and Development Requirements in EYFS

As one of the best British curriculum schools in Dubai, our curriculum includes seven complete areas of learning and development, all of which are important and interconnected.

The first three areas are fundamental to building a strong foundation for igniting children's curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, forming relationships, and growing. These are called the Prime Areas:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

The next four areas help children strengthen and apply the prime areas and are called Specific Areas:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

During their time in Foundation Stage 2, children participate in an ambitious curriculum designed sequentially to ensure progress toward achieving end-of-reception goals, known as Early Learning Goals (ELGs). The curriculum includes learning through play, learning by observing adults and each other, as well as guided learning and direct teaching, with flexibility in plans to respond to children's new interests and needs.

Characteristics of Effective Learning in EYFS:

  • Playing and Exploring: Children explore, try things, and experience for themselves.
  • Active Learning: Children focus and keep trying when facing difficulties and enjoy achievements.
  • Creating and Critical Thinking: Children develop their own ideas, make connections between ideas, and develop strategies for completing tasks.

Primary Stage

At International School of Creative Science Nad Al Sheba, we are committed to providing a challenging curriculum with high expectations.

Subjects include: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Moral Education, Arabic Language, Holy Quran, Islamic Studies, Arts, Physical Education, and Topics.

Primary learning encourages asking questions, and critical thinking and problem-solving are essential parts of the teaching strategy to nurture a love of learning. Subjects are linked to provide a comprehensive educational experience, as learning is enriched when subjects are integrated rather than taught in isolation.

Key Stage 1 (Grades 1 & 2)

The "Pathways for Success" program supports students' interests, career aspirations, and post-secondary progression. We offer a range of Pearson IGCSE examinations and BTEC options. Core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Information Technology, and Physical Education, with selection of one or more subjects from available options.

Key Stage 5 (Grades 12 & 13)

The Stage 5 curriculum builds on "Pathways for Success" to support students' transition to university and the job market. We offer a range of A-levels and BTEC examinations. Students complete study skills programs and Duke of Edinburgh program, in addition to mandatory Ministry of Education subjects: Arabic, Islamic Studies, Moral Education, and Quran program.
