About the school

The Japanese School is considered one of the best schools in the United Arab Emirates. It was established in 1978 to provide education equivalent to what is offered in Japan for Japanese children residing in Abu Dhabi. Among 94 Japanese schools worldwide, this is the only school that officially accepts foreign students (UAE nationals). It also organizes various events, activities, and field trips aimed at achieving cultural exchange between Japan and the United Arab Emirates.

The school has a teaching staff dedicated to educating students to the highest standards of quality and efficiency using flexible methods filled with curricular and extracurricular activities. Key admission and registration requirements include:

  • Applicants must be children of members of the Japanese Association and must obtain permission from the school board chairman
  • Contact school administration via email for inquiries about transfers and registration, and submit an admission application
  • Prepare required documents [required for students transferring from Japan], including:
  • Student home environment survey
  • Copy of school record
  • Health examination card / dental examination card
  • Textbook payment certificate
  • Registration certificate and transcript in English
  • Proof of membership in the Japanese Association
  • Copy of Japanese passport (page containing name, photo, etc.)
  • Passport-size photo data (father, mother, and student)
  • Vaccination record (English), vaccination page from mother and child health handbook
  • Copy of UAE ID card (both sides) (father's card, mother's card, and student's ID)

Regarding the Open Kindergarten School Activity: It will be held for Emirati students

Admission Requirements:

  • Child must be of Emirati nationality
  • Born between April 2, 2021, and April 1, 2023
  • Child can join the school from pre-kindergarten stage (3 years) only
