Registration for the new academic year (after the completion of your child's pre-registration) begins in mid-November each year for grades KG to 8, and for grades 5 to 12 (CBSE). For grades 5 to 12 (IGCSE/AS/A Levels), registration begins at the end of May. In all cases, the admission procedures set by the Ministry of Education (for foreign schools) must be followed.

Age Guidelines

• For admission to KG1, the child must be 4 years old by March 31st and not after.
• For admission to KG2, the child must be 5 years old by March 31st and not after.
• For admission to Grade 1, the child must be 6 years old by March 31st and not after.

Admission Policy and Required Documents with the Registration Form

• Two photocopies of the student’s passport with a valid UAE residency visa.
• 4 recent passport-size photographs.
• 2 stamp-size photographs for the bus card.
• Two photocopies of the birth certificate in English or Arabic (please bring the original for verification).
• For those not born in the UAE, a legalized/attested birth certificate must be submitted.
• A true copy of the mark sheet for the last exam passed at the previous school. (This is required for students in Grade 2 and above).
• Students seeking admission from Grade 2 and above must submit the original Transfer Certificate from their last attended school, in English or Arabic, attested according to the guidelines below:
• For students coming from outside the UAE:
• The Transfer Certificate must be verified by the Education official in the Zone/District/Region where the Transfer Certificate was issued.
• The stamp and signature of the Education official must be attested by the relevant Embassies in Abu Dhabi.
• Attestation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE is mandatory.
• For students coming from other Gulf countries: The Transfer Certificate must be attested by the Ministry of Education in that country and stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in that country.
• For students coming from places/Emirates other than Al Ain: The Certificate must be attested by the Ministry of Education in the concerned Emirate.

Medical Details

• The school insists that every student must have a valid health card as required by the health authorities.
• The Health and Medical Services department provides the necessary vaccinations for students according to the prescribed vaccination schedule.
• Those who do not possess a vaccination card will be vaccinated based on their previous medical records, which must be submitted by the parents to the school nurse, with the exception of kindergarten students who receive their vaccinations at school.
• A copy of the child’s vaccination card / a copy of the medical record from the previous school must be attached to the medical file, which should be correctly completed by the parents and submitted at the time of admission.

• When paying by cheque, please make the cheque payable to Our Own English High School (or the exact official name).
• Post-dated cheques will not be accepted.

• From Grade 1 to 4, all nationalities follow the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum.
• However, students of Indian origin continue their studies in the CBSE curriculum from Grade 5 onwards.
• The British Curriculum (Cambridge International Curriculum) is offered to students of other nationalities. Indian students can also choose the Cambridge International Curriculum.
• English is taught as the first language within the CBSE curriculum.
• English is taught as a second language in the Cambridge section, as most students are from Arab, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, or other non-native English-speaking nationalities.
• The teaching of Islam and the Holy Quran for Muslim students, and Moral Education for students of other faiths, is part of the curriculum. (Arab students are taught in Arabic).

From Grade 6 to 12

During these years, our children are gradually prepared to accept additional challenges. At this stage, students follow the model set by the Central Board of Secondary Education in New Delhi. In Grade 5, students choose to study the curriculum according to CBSE, India, or CIE, UK, in addition to their regular classroom studies.

Yes, there is co-education in the primary stage. For the middle and secondary stages, the availability of separate classes for male and female students can be inquired about via email.

Protection is an integral part of life at Our Own English High School and is everyone’s responsibility. All our staff receive annual training to help them recognize instances of abuse and promote the well-being of our children. All staff and relevant parties are required to read and sign our protection policy annually to confirm their understanding of it.

It is important for children to feel safe. Through our daily practices, our teachers help empower our children by teaching them how to recognize abuse and maintain their safety online and offline. We encourage children to speak to a trusted adult if they feel worried about anything. This can be done face-to-face, or students can email our school's Educational Support Department. The Educational Support Department resolves the issue by speaking to the child, then discussing it with the parent when needed.
