About the school

Al Sahwa Private School is an international bilingual baccalaureate school in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, providing educational services to the Omani and non-Omani bilingual student community. It was established in 1993 under the ownership of the Royal Office and Royal Oman Police pension funds, on land donated by the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said - may God rest his soul - with the aim of providing high-quality international education while embracing traditional values based on the heritage of the Sultanate of Oman.

Al Sahwa Schools is a bilingual school from kindergarten to grade 12. Over the past thirty years, the school has grown rapidly to include more than 1,100 students and about 175 staff representing 30 nationalities, with appropriate facilities and academic programs. It has now become one of the fully accredited International Baccalaureate schools and has received accreditation from the Council of International Schools.

Stage 1 - Electronic Registration Form

When submitting your application via the electronic registration form, you will be asked to upload several documents. Before starting, please prepare a digital copy of the following documents: applicant's passport, previous year's school report for students who have completed their academic year at another school.

Stage 2 - Admission Test and Document Collection Applicants who reach this stage will be invited to Al Sahwa Schools to complete a series of admission tests. There will be a non-refundable administrative fee of 20 Omani Rials to register for these tests.

Stage 3 - Notifying Parents of Student Acceptance to the School

Parents of students who reach this stage of the admission process will be officially contacted about their acceptance into one of the available vacancies at Al Sahwa Schools.

If parents wish to complete the procedures, they must respond to the school's communication within two weeks with a deposit of 20 Omani Rials (non-refundable) to the accounts office.

To complete the procedures, you will be asked to bring the following documents:

  • Student's father's passport or civil ID
  • Student's mother's passport or civil ID
  • Student's birth certificate
  • Student's vaccination card (red card)
  • Recent passport photo of the student

Primary Years

In kindergarten and primary school, we apply the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework.

This approach is student-centered and is based on a multidisciplinary educational curriculum for concept building.

Senior Stage

The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) focuses on intellectual challenge. It encourages students aged 11 to 16 to make practical connections between their studies and the world around them and prepares them for success in continuing their studies and in life.

Grades 11 and 12

The school implements the bilingual General Education Diploma programs of the Ministry of Education in the Sultanate of Oman (GED) alongside the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP).

These programs provide all students with subject choices specifically designed to match their interests and future plans, and have consistently achieved excellent academic results for them and provided our graduates with a range of options and pathways.
