The Riyadh Japanese School was established on September 20, 1985. It is a well-established Japanese and international curriculum school primarily aimed at teaching students from the Japanese community in Saudi Arabia. In its first year, the school opened its preparatory section and elementary school with a total of 22 students. The elementary school grew to 23 students, and by 1987, the school had its largest number of students: 37 (three students in the preparatory section and 34 students in the elementary school). The school teaches its students an educational curriculum based on the American curriculum, in addition to the curriculum set by the Saudi Ministry of Education for Arabic language and Islamic education subjects.
The school focuses on developing cooperative group behavior and responsibility through extracurricular activities, particularly various team games and school trips.
The school's goal is to take good care of students, especially those who are interested in learning and seeking challenges. It aims to raise students to be disciplined citizens who can interact with society more consciously, understand their rights and duties, understand the responsibilities necessary to preserve those rights, and contribute to community development.
Preserve the Japanese identity of expatriate Japanese students. Promote cultural exchange between Japan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Teach the Japanese language. Spread Japanese culture.
