The school's name, "Al-Shams" (The Sun), was chosen based on the famous saying "Knowledge is light," where the sun in this context symbolizes light and energy. In its early days, the schools operated in rented buildings, but later, dedicated school buildings were constructed to reflect its status and provide a distinguished educational environment. The current school campus is located in Al-Rawdah district on Hafsa Bint Omar Street, which is considered one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in Riyadh.
