Admission Process

Capital School is committed to providing high-quality education in a creative and diverse environment that helps your child succeed in a rapidly changing world. We are keen to help you discover whether the school is suitable for your child.

We offer a one-day registration process that includes a school visit, a tour with the principal, and meeting with one of our admissions experts to assist you through the registration procedures.

How to Apply

After getting to know the school and deciding that it is suitable for your child and family, you will be provided with all the necessary information to submit the official application.

Registration

You can register your child at any time. Most parents prefer early registration to secure a place. There are currently no registration fees. Required documents:

  • Copy of the student's passport
  • Copy of UAE residence and ID card (if available)
  • Previous academic year reports
  • Medical reports, educational psychologist reports, and Individual Education Plans (if available)

You can provide residence and ID cards later if you have not yet moved to Dubai.

Getting to Know the Child

The school is inclusive and does not base admission on academic performance alone. To ensure the student is placed in the appropriate grade, admission tests are conducted inside the school or remotely. For FS1 and FS2, the test is a simple conversation, and for older students, some short tasks, without fees. If the student needs additional support, the inclusion team will be ready to provide assistance.

After accepting the admission offer, the following documents are required along with a deposit to secure the seat:

  • Parents' passports, UAE residence, and ID cards

Early Childhood Stage

Three Core Learning Areas

Communication and Language: We immerse children in an environment that makes communication enjoyable and engaging, where classrooms are rich in language. Children develop the confidence and skills necessary to express themselves, with many opportunities to speak and listen in various contexts.

Physical Development: At Capital School, we provide opportunities for children to develop fine and gross motor skills, improve coordination, control, and movement. We also encourage them to be independent and teach them how to care for themselves and manage their daily affairs.

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development: We help children build a positive image of themselves and others, guide them to form positive relationships and develop respect for others, and support them in understanding their feelings and building foundations of respect and kindness.

Four Specific Learning Areas

Literacy Development: We provide children with access to a wide range of reading materials to stimulate their interest in reading and writing. We teach phonics daily so they become confident in reading and writing skills.

Mathematics: We provide children with opportunities to develop counting skills and number understanding. We integrate problem-solving and logical thinking into mathematics activities, given the importance of children's ability to explain their mathematical ideas. We also focus on developing awareness of shapes, space, and measurement.

Understanding the World Around Us: We guide children to understand their physical world and community through opportunities for exploration, observation, and getting to know people, places, technology, and the environment.

Expressive Arts and Design: We allow children to explore a wide range of different media and materials, providing opportunities and encouragement to share their thoughts, feelings, and opinions through arts and design.

Primary Stage

English Language

The English language curriculum at Capital School reflects the needs of different stages. In Year 1, it focuses on developing phonics skills through the approved Little Wandle program, supervised by trained teachers. During the primary stage, the Talk for Writing approach is applied, which develops speaking, listening, and writing skills, supporting students in producing high-quality writing by progressing from oral narration to advanced writing.

Mathematics

The mathematics curriculum aims to build a strong understanding of mathematical concepts and their application in daily life through practical activities. It focuses on developing number skills, problem-solving, data organization, and understanding shapes, space, and measurement, linking practical learning with abstract concepts.

Information and Communication Technology

The ICT curriculum prepares students to use technology consciously and creatively in a changing world. Children learn to research, analyze, and present information responsibly, with modern technical infrastructure including interactive whiteboards, laboratories, and digital devices supporting daily learning.

History, Geography, and Arts

This area helps students understand the world around them and connect the past with the present and future. It enhances awareness of different cultures, sustainability, and community responsibility, developing values of diversity, belonging, and justice.

Science

The science curriculum focuses on practical learning and inquiry, where students use science laboratories from Year 1. The curriculum encourages asking questions, conducting experiments, and collaborative work within the themes of scientific inquiry, living organisms, materials, and physical processes.

Physical Education

The PE curriculum provides varied and balanced activities that take into account individual differences, with two weekly lessons for all students, alongside swimming lessons. It aims to develop physical fitness, motor skills, and general health through organized and non-curricular activities.

Arabic Language, Islamic Education, Moral Education, and Social Studies

Students learn Arabic from the early stages. Islamic and moral values are instilled, and social studies are taught gradually. The school attaches great importance to these subjects, integrating them into the British curriculum and enhancing them through various educational activities and competitions.

Secondary Stage

Building Self-Confidence and Developing Independent Thinking

The Secondary Stage program at Capital School builds on the foundation of the Primary Stage and encourages students to develop independent thinking and creative problem-solving skills. It helps them transition smoothly to the next stage of their educational journey. The program offers a curriculum based on the English National Curriculum leading to GCSE and A Level qualifications, with the possibility of joining the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB DP).

Rich Learning Environment

The program has been modified to provide a rich learning environment, including a focus on Arabic and Islamic studies to deepen students' understanding of local customs. All students receive specific education in ICT, in addition to integrating technology and e-learning across curricula, and Personal, Social, and Health Education (PSHE) materials that include career advice and academic guidance when choosing examination courses.

Personalized Learning

For students with language or learning challenges, or those with special talents and gifts, the curriculum is modified and support is provided to ensure they reach their full potential. Additional vocational courses and qualifications are also offered, including IELTS, CEPA, and ICDL according to students' needs.

Comprehensive Approach

The program adopts an integrated approach to developing social aspects so that students grow in a safe and respectful school environment and can achieve their full potential. A house supervisor is assigned to each student to provide daily guidance. The personal support program focuses on mental, social, physical, and emotional aspects (MESP) and covers topics such as positive thinking, citizenship, and motivation.
