The Progressive English School was established in 1981 and is considered one of the international educational institutions affiliated with the Emirate of Sharjah. It follows the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) in New Delhi.

The school also adheres to the examination rules of the ICSE Centre (Grade X) and ISC Centre (Grade XII). Furthermore, the school is accredited by the Ministry of Education in the UAE, and its educational programs align with the standards of the GCE 'A Level' certificate.

Progressive English School has set admission and registration requirements, including placing students in the appropriate grades for them. Admission decisions are based on fair and objective criteria. Correct placement ensures that students benefit from the curriculum offered. The school is committed to working closely with parents to determine the best and most suitable educational level for students. The school does not discriminate based on race, gender, additional needs, or national origin, and seeks to accept all applying students. Members of the Senior Leadership Team, including the Principal, may review the admission application if necessary. In the case of an admission request for a child with additional needs, a detailed assessment must be conducted to determine the child's requirements. All assessments, medical, psychological, or educational reports must be submitted to the school before enrollment. The Principal must be notified in writing if parents are aware or suspect that their child (or a family member) has a learning difficulty. Parents must provide copies of all relevant written reports and other vital information. Admission is granted based on the final exam result of the previous year and the Transfer/Leaving Certificate. Pupils seeking admission to KG1 will be assessed through a simple conversation.

From KG2 onwards

Students from KG2 onwards will be required to pass an entrance test in English and Mathematics. Direct admission to Grades X and XII is not available for students coming from other curricula (not accredited by the school).

Required Documents for Admission

  • Completed application form.
  • One copy of the passport with the residence visa (for the student, parent, or guardian).
  • One passport-sized personal photograph.
  • Transfer/Leaving Certificate from the previous school, which must be attested as follows:
    • From Sharjah: attested by the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA).
    • From outside Sharjah: attested by the concerned Ministry of Education.
    • From outside the UAE: attested by the Head of the educational institution (School), followed by the attestation of the concerned Consulate, and then the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
  • Original Mark Sheet (Grades) from the previous school.
  • Original UAE ID Card (for the student, mother, father, or guardian).
  • For students in Grade 11 and Grade 12: The Grade 10 Mark Sheet must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) if the student is coming from outside the country.
  • Grade 9 Mark Sheets must be submitted.
